Patient Support at St. Mary's Hospital
St. Mary's Hospital exists to give their patients and families the chance to talk about their experiences. Helping to make St. Mary's patients stay comfortable, assist the family, making sure your feedback is channeled in the right direction.
The patient support supplied by the Volunteer includes, but is not limited to: assist patient in-take, orientating the patient to one day surgery or a longer stay, transporting a patient to another deparment within the hospital, staying with the patient and retruning the patient to their room, daily check on patients in an assiged area, assist the patient with completing menus,letters,hospital paperwork, explain hospital policy on patient rights, assure patients in times of stress or worry, provide patients with personal attention that lets them know they matter to the hospital, bring requested items from the gift shop, work in the gift shop, as needed, and assist in patient discharge. These activities may take place in various departments within the hospital, depending on the preferences and skills of the volunteers.
RSVP provides volunteer insurance, mileage reimbursement and recognition to our volunteers. This site is handicapp accessible.
Skills necessary include:
- Patient advocacy
- General office skills including clerical and data entry
- Verbal communications
- Fluency in English or Spanish
Must be at least 55 years of age.
