Greeters are the first points of contact for clients arriving at VITA sites. Intake specialists ensure that clients have completed all of the paperwork and information necessary to complete their tax returns. Both can answer questions that clients may have as they wait for their appointments and provide important information about other free services and programs in their area that promote financial self-sufficiency, such as matched savings accounts, SNAP and HUSKY benefits, financial education, and more.

There are many benefits to becoming a VITA volunteer: free IRS training and materials to help you develop a lifelong skill and build your resume; a variety of locations, dates, and times convenient to your schedule; ongoing support; a Certificate of Recognition & Letter of Appreciation from the IRS at the end of the tax season; and the personal satisfaction you’ll gain from providing an important service to your community.
