Summer Food Service
New Opportunities of Greater Meriden (NOGM) is the regional anti-poverty agency that administers Summer Food Service, free breakfast and lunch, at multiple locations in Meriden to low-income school children 18 and under throughout summer vacation. In this way the young people may continue to enjoy the same nutritious breakfasts and lunches that are available to them during the school year through the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.
The Summer Food Service is available at many sites in Meriden. To find a convenient location call NOGM toward the end of the school year at (203) 235-0278.
Summer Food Service is federally funded and managed in Connecticut by the State Department of Education. While the program is offered in several other areas where New Opportunities Inc. is active, the free meals are not administered by New Opportunities in those particular towns.
